Lawyer For Bankruptcy in Indiana Notes How Foreclosures Hit the Rich and Famous

Just a couple of months ago in this Bankruptcy in Indiana article series, I remarked, “It helps to know bankruptcy was the solution for celebrity sports figures.” What I was aiming at is that, when individuals come to one of the good bankruptcy attorneys in Indiana who work in the Zuckerberg bankruptcy law offices needing Indiana bankruptcy help, before any productive planning can get done, the main message most of those people need to hear is that they’re not failures, and that they’re not alone.

In the past few years with the problems in the real estate market, many clients are turning to us bankruptcy lawyers in Indiana for help, not necessarily with bankruptcy, but to help stop foreclosure. While Chapter 13 bankruptcy law in Indiana can in fact be of enormous help in saving homes, before the planning can get done, the message needs to be heard: You’re not failures.  You’re not alone.

Rings and Things and Bankruptcy in Indiana

I’m no jeweler, but as a debt consolidation lawyer offering bankruptcy services in Indiana, I find that questions about jewelry frequently come up in connection with filing personal bankruptcy in Indiana. Maybe that’s because jewelry is smaller, and so that may make some people believe they can get away with “hiding” that asset from the bankruptcy court.  Or, maybe it’s just because jewelry typically has a lot of personal memories attached. Often readers of this Bankruptcy in Indiana article series will write in questions and comments about jewelry, mostly Can-I-keep-my-jewelry-if-I-file-bankruptcy-in-Indiana  sort of questions.

After close to 25 years offering Indiana bankruptcy help, I realize that questions like that are really part of a bigger, broader concern that most clients who visit one of the four Zuckerberg bankruptcy law offices have:  If I file personal bankruptcy in Indiana, will I lose everything I have? The ans

Indiana Bankruptcy Information Related to Information About Indiana Jobs

Talk about a scare! As a debt consolidation lawyer offering bankruptcy services in Indiana, I was very upset to read in Inside Indiana Business that Caterpillar Logistics was laying off 84 workers in Greenfield. If I’ve talked about it once, I’ve talked about it a hundred times in these Bankruptcy in Indiana articles- the close relationship between debt management, bankruptcy, and income from jobs.

Just one day later, I was thrilled to read that the CAT workers were not about to lose their jobs after all, because” Newell Rubbermaid is taking over management of the operation and retaining the workers.”

Further contributing to my improved mood was various items of positive employment news.

Bankruptcy Lawyer in Indiana Describes the Devil in the Details

In yesterday’s Bankruptcy in Indiana article, I described how valuable time was wasted in the failed Chapter 7 bankruptcy case of a Michigan couple.  As a debt consolidation lawyer and lawyer for bankruptcy in Indiana, I know how true the old saying is: “The devil is in the details.”

Especially in the past few years, with help to stop foreclosure having become a bigger and bigger part of the work of all the good bankruptcy attorneys in Indiana who work in the Zuckerberg bankruptcy law offices, I realize that the “detail devil” is even more important to overcome when it comes to buying, selling, and saving homes.

My work usually involves helping save homes that clients want to keep. I

Case of Key Employee Offers Yet Another Way for Bankruptcy Attorney in Indiana to Teach …

In yesterday’s Bankruptcy in Indiana article, I used a bankruptcy case from Florida to illustrate the principle that bankruptcy law is designed to treat all parties fairly.

Because the employer had not disclosed to his key employee how much debt the company had, his false statements to her resulted in the bankruptcy court deciding that his debt to her could not be discharged through bankruptcy (and he had to pay her the money as promised)..

Since, by way of providing bankruptcy information in Indiana, I want to use these cases as teaching tools, I want to make a second point about the case of Mr. F. and his key employee Ms. E.:

There was a second way in which Mr. F. did not fulfill his obligations to Ms. E..

Business Partnership and Personal and Small Business Bankruptcy in Indiana

As an attorney handling small business bankruptcy in Indiana, I see many different situations.  Indiana is a big state for small business (more than 500,000 small businesses operate here). What I and the other bankruptcy attorneys in Indiana who work in the four Mark Zuckerberg bankruptcy law offices are finding is this: many of these businesses are either sole proprietorships or partnerships rather than corporations or LLC’s.

And, the thing about that is, when filing small business bankruptcy in Indiana is being considered, a few truths tend to quickly become self-evident:

  • Business loans and lines of credit have been backed by the personal assets of either the sole owner or one or more of the partners.
  • Personal money has been put into the business by either the sold proprietor or by partners.
  • Money has been withdrawn or borrowed from the business for the personal use of the sole proprietor or by one or more partners.

So now, I learn from the business owner who’s come to see me for Indiana bankruptcy help, we have a “situation:

One business partner wants to file personal bankruptcy in Indiana. A Full Article…

Indiana Bankruptcy Lawyer Reports on Job Trends in Indiana

Learning that Indiana’s unemployment rate dropped to 10.1% brought mixed feelings to me as a debt consolidation lawyer offering bankruptcy services in Indiana.  Like all of you Bankruptcy in Indiana readers, I’m sure, I can’t help but think that 10.1% is hardly the kind of good news I’d been hoping for.  Knowing that the statistics mean Indiana is fourth best in the entire nation provides only small comfort.

In fact, one of the Columbus bankruptcy lawyers who works in the Zuckerberg bankruptcy law offices there quoted the Indiana Department of Workforce Development Commissioner Mark Everson:  “Any drop in the unemployment rate is welcome news,” remarked Everson, adding that unemployment in the Carmel/Indianapolis area has fallen to 8.7%.
